A narrow strip of green separates the sky and water in the sketch of the master. The water surface is restless. The sky is also dominated by wind. Only one small detail – the reed stalks bending under the pressure of autumn air – fill the work with sounds and a sense of movement. Rolling clouds and timid glimpses of the blue sky fill the work with energy, dynamically emphasize the atmosphere of impending bad weather.
The texture of the water is transmitted surprisingly reliably. The reflection of the sky is accurate and scrupulous. The predominance of shades of gray, dark green tones, blue glimmers, merging into a single composition, convey the mood and give a special sound to the whole work."
